I completed my bachelor´s degree in Graz, Styria. For my bachelor’s thesis, I investigated the impact of haymaking on a population of the bull bush-cricket, Polysarcus denticauda, in a meadow in south-east Styria.

In autumn 2024, I moved to Innsbruck to start my master´s degree in ecology and biodiversity, and I am currently working on my master’s thesis. As I hadn’t had much exposure to ornithology until now, I wanted to learn something new and work with birds on my master’s thesis.

My thesis is a collaboration between Boku Vienna and the Molecular Ecology Group in Innsbruck and focuses on the white-winged snowfinch, Montifringilla nivalis, an alpine specialist threatened by climate change. Using a webcam to monitor a feeding station in Zettersfeld, Lienz, I will investigate the influence of meteorological variables on the presence of the white-winged snowfinch at the site. Furthermore, we aim to identify the daily and seasonal patterns exhibited by the snowfinch throughout the winter period at the feeding station.
