I am a molecular ecologist with research experience in several groups of organisms, including insects, woody plants and fungi. Recent developments in molecular genetics offer us powerful tools to assess evolutionary history and current developmental trends of populations, species and ecosystems, and my aim is to utilize these tools to answer biological questions. I enjoy working at an interface between organismic and molecular biology, genetics, symbiosis research and computational data analysis.

Research topics
Alpine endemism
Bioinformatics
Biological pest control
Biotic factors influencing species dispersal and evolution
Development and application of genetic markers
Ecology and evolution of symbioses
Parthenogenesis
Phylogeny and phylogeography
