I am interested in an integral ecology that aims to integrate knowledge from biology and other sciences. I grew up in a family and environment where respect for people and nature was of the utmost importance. This upbringing made me deeply conscious of human dignity and the innate value of nature. Although I am originally from the plains of Karnataka in South India, for the last 22 years, as a Jesuit, I have lived in Northeast India. This trans-Himalayan region is one of the world’s biological hotspots, encompassing evergreen mountains, valleys, rivers, and lakes – including the Brahmaputra River, Umiam Lake, and Majuli Island, the largest river island in the world. I intend to contribute to a deeper understanding of biodiversity and topography globally, and particularly in Northeast India.
Currently, for my PhD, I am working with Fabian Royer in a project studying the influence of the honeybees (Apis mellifera) on wild bees in the European Alpine region.
