In my PhD project, I will work on soil fauna diversity and its assessment in an alpine agricultural landscape. The focus will be on soil macrofauna diversity among several land-use types in South Tyrol, an area which is very intensively agriculturally managed. Therefore, also differences between organic and conventional farming will be considered. Additionally to specialising in earthworm determination, I will jump into the molecular detection of nematodes from environmental-DNA samples. Finally, the transfer of biodiversity knowledge to the general public via soil quality or sustainability indicators shall complement my thesis.
